Project details
The Working Holiday program takes place in a modern and most renowned backpacker hostels in Santiago de Chile. It is centrally located in the city center of Santiago de Chile in an imposing, well-preserved colonial building with a spacious roof terrace where guest can relax and enjoy the great view. The hostel is located close to the important Plaza de Armas, the main square from the old colonial days. It is also close to Barrio Lastarria, which is popular for its good restaurants, bars and plenty of shops of up-and coming designers. This neighborhood is characterized by a very active cultural and artistic scene.
Hostel guests can book activities and day trips directly on site. The hostel has a resto-bar where guests and visitors can enjoy a drink and good food in a very relaxed atmosphere.
The local staff consists of people between the ages of 19 and 65. The backpacker guests come mostly from Europe, Brazil and the USA.

You will be involved in various tasks. Some of these include welcoming guests, planning and running events and activities in the hostel (e.g. board games, pub nights at the bar, movie nights, pool parties, etc.) as well as kitchen duty and cleaning and maintenance work.
You will most likely work in shifts, a maximum of 25 hours/week. Please note that your days off do not necessarily have to be on a weekend.

- Maintenance and cleaning work

Accommodation
During your working holiday program, you will live directly in the trendy hostel yourself. The staff have shared rooms with shared bathrooms. If the staff area is fully occupied, the volunteers may also live in one of the rooms of the hostel.
No meals are included. You can use the well equipped kitchen so store and prepare your meals.
The internet (W-LAN) and the hostel's factilites can be used outside of your working hours.
Location
Santiago in Chile is one of the few metropolises in the world where you can actually ask yourself the question: âGo to the sea today and go skiing tomorrow, or the other way around?â. Because you can reach endlessly long sandy beaches on the Pacific just as quickly as excellent ski slopes in the Andes during winter time.
Santiago is almost exactly in the middle of the country and divides Chile into the fertile south and the dry north. The capital of Chile has every facet you could wish for. On the one hand you will find many beautiful places to relax, majestic colonial buildings and exciting markets, but on the other hand also the flair of a modern metropolis. With more than 6 million inhabitants, Santiago is also the economic and political hub of the country.
The hostel is located in trendy Santiago downtown close to the Plaza de Armas, the Parque Forestal and Bellas Artes. This area is often the setting of cultural and artistic events, handicraft markets or music shows. Mural paintings add color to the area and elegant old mansions line the streets.
Students and local residents mingle in cozy cafes serving local alfajores, or in laid-back pubs and wine bars. It's always busy, always something going on and you will certainly enjoy your time in this interesting neighborhood.
