Project details
Patagonia is a dream destination and one of many people's top travel wishes. Majestic landscapes, untouched nature, glaciers, mountain lakes, fjords, evergreen forests, raging rivers and impressive mountain backdrops. All of this awaits visitors to Patagonia. If you want to enjoy this breathtaking panorama a little longer than just passing through, this Working Holiday position is made for you.
Located in the pretty town of Coyhaique in the heart of the Aysen region in the extreme south of Chile, this working holiday program for adventurous nature fans is the place to be.
The Working Holiday program takes place in a hostel that opened in 2018. It is located in downtown Coyhaique, close to supermarkets, the main shopping street, the central city square and the bus station. The city's many restaurants, bars and cafes are also just a stone's throw away.
The hostel offers cozy accommodation for backpackers exploring the depths of Patagonia. It is characterized by the friendly customer service and the good atmosphere at all times. It is a place where backpackers from all over the world make contacts, exchange tips and experiences and make further travel plans.
Tasks
The good thing about working holiday in a hostel is that you not only live and work at a tourist hotspot with all the associated attractions, but also have intensive contact with both local colleagues and international guests. Hardly a day will go by without an interesting chat, where you can pass on the tips you know and get suggestions for your own explorations through Chile.
Your exact working hours will be communicated to you on site and may vary depending on the number of tourists, time of year, etc. The working hours are between 30-35 hours per week with 1-2 days off. The hostel works in shifts from Monday to Sunday. Thus, your days off won't necessarily be on weekends.
Participants help out in the hostel business. The areas of responsibility include being around the guests as well as working in the hostel kitchen.
Among your tasks are:
- Guest service
- Helping in the hostel kitchen for breakfast service
- Room keeping and tidying / cleaning of the common areas
- Working at the reception
- Check-in / check-out
- Other daily tasks in the hostel
Accommodation
Shared bedroom directly in the hostel, shared bathroom.
Wifi internet is available free of charge in the hostel.
