Program details
Watch our animal lovers! If you love farm work and being surrounded by lots of different animals, you enjoy to work with people, you like sunny weather and are not afraid of physical work, then we have the ideal farm stay program for you.
In the midst of an idyllic landscape of valleys and mountains lies the family farm, which offers a home to many different animals and offers "holidays on the farm". The farm is run by its owners themselves and is geared towards agritourism. The 12 small guest houses accommodate visitors who want to come for longer than just a day trip.
The farm also offers space for large events such as family celebrations or company events. In addition to the activities on the farm, trips to the surrounding area are offered, on foot, on horseback or on the water.
The farm is also particularly popular for school trips. Visiting days like this are colorful and the little guests would all like to take one of the cute little animals home with them.
The many beloved animals include typical farm animals such as dairy cows, pigs, horses, donkeys, chickens, goats and sheep, but also emus, llamas, deer, turkeys, rabbits, cats and dogs. So many animals are a lot of fun but also a lot of work, which is why this program is suitable for participants who are proactive and like to lend a hand where help is needed.
(Note: animal population is subject to change)
Tasks
The tasks on the farm are, of course, mainly about the many animals, their care and well-being.
Since there is a tourism business, especially in the warm seasons, this farm stay is also well suited for volunteers who like to deal with people.
Natalia and her team will discuss the exact tasks directly with you on site. Depending on the season, booked events, number of workders, current needs, etc., there are different tasks. The working hours depend on these tasks. For example, you will be needed at weekends for events and when doing tasks with animals you have to be guided by their rhythm of life. Your days off can also fall on weekdays.
Depending on the season, around 8 people work on the farm, including the owners, who are all between 29 and 70 years old.
Your area of responsibility may include:
- Prepare animal feed
- Feeding animals
- Make sure that the animals always have enough water
- Care for the animals
- Cleaning stables and enclosures
- Monitor animal welfare
- Look after the baby animals
- Possibly saddle horses and keep them ready for use
- Maintenance of infrastructure, gardens, vegetable gardens, etc.
- Assisting during events
- Other tasks related to the farm and tourism business
Note: The tasks may vary. They depend on factors such as number of volunteers, weather, season, current needs of the project, as well as self-motivation. Not every volunteer may be fully involved in all these tasks.
Accommodation
With this Farm Stay you will be connected to the warm and hospitable family that runs the farm.
There are two private rooms available for participants. One is outside the owners' home and one is in the main house itself. There is one bathroom ensuite to the rooms, which is private or shared depending on occupancy.
Residents are responsible for the order and cleanliness of their room and bathroom.
The program position includes full board. You either have lunch together with the family or in the salon, which is available to the employees. Meals are plentiful and typically Chilean. If you work hard, you have to eat well!
Of course, the Internet must not be missing! On the farm you have free access to the Internet via WIFI.
